About a week passed. I started to date Isaac, the guy that I had originally wanted to date...well...since the 3rd grade anyway. When James picked me up that night, he knew immediately that something was up. "Why are you so happy?" He asked. I stared at him. "Is it a crime for me to be happy?" I asked. He shook his head and shifted up. "No, it's not necessarily a crime, I just wondered why you're so happy, that's all." he said defensively. I shifted in my seat and coughed a little. "I'm going out with someone." I answered quietly. He stopped the truck off of the side of the road and glared at me. "Who?" he asked. I looked everywhere except for at him. "Isaac." I whispered. James slammed his foot down on the clutch and jerked the stick into gear. "I can't believe you decided to screw your life up again." he yelled. I cleared my throat. "Why don't you trust me for once that I'm doing the right thing?" I asked. James laughed a little. "Yeah. Because you do the right thing a whole lot." he said.

Men.

We got to Albany a little later than usual, much to the disapointment of Tank. "You two were suppose to get here a half hour ago, you missed your first race." he said. James glared at me. "Someone was busy screwing up her life."

There comes a time in every girl's life when she needs to put her foot down and defend her man.

This was that time.

I wheeled around and punched him in the gut, then pushed him to the ground. "Don't mess with Isaac." I said angrily. James looked up at me angrily, then got up. "What, now you're on his side? Don't forget where you came from." he snapped. I laughed. "I came from Greenfield and guess who I grew up with...ISAAC. So really, I guess I won't be able to forget where I come from with him next to me." I said. James reached out to smack me but I caught his hand. "Don't." I said quietly. James stared at me in surprise, then dropped his hand. Tank cleared his throat awkwardly. "Earth to the unhappily married couple. There are three more races tonight and you two need to be in them so let's get moving." he said. James glared at me. "You and I need to have a talk later." he said. I smirked and looked up at him. "I think we've talked all we need to." I said. Tank turned around. "Well come on, let's go." James shoved me against the truck. "Not yet." he said. Then he glared at me. "You were suppose to be mine." he ground out. I shoved him backwards. "No, actually, I'm not suppose to be your's, I'm suppose to be Isaac's. That's why I'm with him and not you. If you have a problem with that, then I suggest that you keep it to yourself because I will not sit here and listen to you as you bash my boyfriend!" I screamed. James looked shocked. "You just yelled at me!" he said. I glared at him. "Perceptive, aren't we?" I said sarcastically. James shoved me back into the truck. "You need to change your attitude!" he yelled. I shoved him back against a street pole. "Maybe you should change it for me then!" I yelled back. James glared at me and shoved me as hard as he could against the truck, almost breaking my back, keeping me pinned. "I don't think you understand how I feel here. You try watching the person you love go to someone else, even though you know you love that person more than anything. You try it." he screamed. He kept pushing me back and finally Tank grabbed him and pulled him back. "Chill out Avalanche, she's entitled to be happy." He said. I glared at James. "You're going to regret the day you talked bad about him. The next time you start your shit, I'll shut your mouth myself. Permanently." Then I got in the truck and drove away.

To be continued...
